Quality Control Order 2023 for Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes and Wire Mesh

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I) issued the Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh (Quality Control) Order, 2023, on November 21, 2023. This order mandates that specified goods must conform to the corresponding Indian Standards listed in the attached table and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The regulation exempts goods manufactured domestically for export. For micro-enterprises defined under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the order will come into force twelve months from the notification date. For small enterprises, the order will take effect nine months from the notification date. The BIS will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for the specified goods. Any violations of this order will be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. The order will come into effect six months from November 21, 2023, ensuring compliance and maintaining product standards within the industry.
