The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has recently issued amendments to several Quality Control Orders for specific chemical substances, extending their enforcement dates. These amendments pertain to the following:
Lauric Acid (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023
Acid Oil (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023
Palm Fatty Acid (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023
Rice Bran Fatty Acid (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023
Coconut Fatty Acid (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023
Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acid (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023
Methylene Chloride (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023
The enforcement dates for these amendments are as follows:
Lauric Acid: October 24, 2023
Acid Oil: October 24, 2023
Palm Fatty Acid: October 24, 2023
Rice Bran Fatty Acid: October 24, 2023
Coconut Fatty Acid: October 24, 2023
Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acid: October 24, 2023
Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane): November 20, 2023
These amendments mandate strict compliance for these products with their relevant Indian Standards, necessitating the prominent display of the ISI Mark. Manufacturers are required to obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II, as per the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Non-compliance with these regulations could result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
