Introduction to the BIS (Quality Control) Order, 2025 for Lauric Acid, Acid Oil, Palm Fatty Acids, Rice Bran Fatty Acids, Coconut Fatty Acids, and Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids

The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), has issued Quality Control Amendment Orders on 25th April, 2025, for the following products:

1. Lauric Acid
2. Acid Oil
3. Palm Fatty Acids
4. Rice Bran Fatty Acids
5. Coconut Fatty Acids
6. Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids

These amendment orders are issued under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

1. The orders will now be known as:
   1. Lauric Acid (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025
   2. Acid Oil (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025

   4. Rice Bran Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025
   5. Coconut Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025
   6. Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025
2. The amendment gives manufacturers and stakeholders more time to meet the required BIS standards
3. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will continue to be the certifying and enforcing authority
4. Any violation of the order will attract penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016

What is the Date of Implementation?

As per the amendment notification issued on 25th April, 2025:

The revised enforcement date is 24th October, 2025
