An urgent notice has been issued regarding the registration of Plastic Waste Producers (PIBOs) and Plastic Waste Processors (PWPs) on the Centralized Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) portal. It is mandatory for all concerned entities to submit their registrations by March 31st, 2024. Failure to comply with this deadline will result in necessary actions being taken against the defaulting entities, which may include imposition of Environmental Compensation and Closure of Operations. This notice serves to inform all PIBOs and PWPs to ensure their registration with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), or Pollution Control Committee (PCC), as applicable, in accordance with the provisions of the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. Entities that have not yet initiated the registration process are urged to complete and submit their registration applications in full on the EPR Portal by the deadline mentioned above. For assistance with the registration process, a Guidance Manual and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) have been uploaded on the EPR Portal, which can be referred to for clarification and guidance. All Plastic Waste Producers, Importers, Brand Owners, and Processors are required to adhere to this notice and ensure timely compliance with the registration requirements to avoid any punitive measures.
