ISI / BIS Certification for Terephthalic Acid

Terephthalic acid, or PTA as it is more often known, is an essential chemical component that is used in the manufacturing of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). The chemical formula of this white, crystalline powder is C₈H₆O₄. Its importance to the plastics industry stems from its function as an essential raw material for the production of polyester resins, which are used to make a wide range of commonplace items including bottles, clothes, films, and packaging materials. 

Terephthalic acid (PTA) is in high demand because it is used to produce polyester, namely polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin, which is utilized in many different industries. Furthermore, the significance of terephthalic acid in the manufacturing of recyclable and environmentally friendly polymers has been highlighted by the growing emphasis on sustainability and recyclability.

Over the course of the projected period, the cumulative annual growth rate (CAGR) for the worldwide terephthalic acid market is anticipated to surpass 5.5%.

According to IS standard IS 15030:2022, all terephthalic acids are now covered by the required ISI Certification Scheme.

Without the ISI Mark, this product cannot be marketed, imported, or exported into the Indian consumer market.
