Prelaminated particle boards are engineered wood products that combine the ease and visual appeal of pre-applied laminate surfaces with the adaptability of particle board. They are made of wood and other lignocellulosic materials. The affordability and efficacy of prelaminated particle boards is one of its main benefits. They remove the need for further finishing labor like painting or veneering by offering a ready-to-use surface with ornamental finishes like wood grain patterns, solid colors, or textures. Because of this, they are a great option for applications requiring a polished look in architecture, interior design, cabinetry, and furniture manufacturing.
Strict quality standards and technical specifications for prelaminated particle boards are outlined in IS 12823:2015. In order to maintain client happiness and confidence, manufacturers must make sure that their goods constantly satisfy high-quality norms. Adherence to this standard ensures that prelaminated particle boards retain consistent qualities throughout manufacturing batches, including thickness, density, and structural integrity. Following these recommendations helps manufacturers create safer goods that have a smaller negative impact on the environment and end users' health.
Note: Obtaining the obligatory ISI Mark Certification is required of manufacturers of prelaminated particle boards derived from wood and other lignocellulosic materials.
In order to guarantee that these prelaminated particle boards meet strict quality standards, safety requirements, and technological standards, ISI Certification is a necessary step. This certification enhances the dependability and performance of the goods and structures that use them. It gives furniture manufacturers, interior designers, architects, and construction professionals peace of mind that the prelaminated particle boards they use in their projects are of the finest caliber, guaranteeing long-term performance, structural integrity, and aesthetic appeal.
Indian Standards Institute, or ISI was renamed the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in 1987. The official mark that the Bureau of Indian Standards provides for manufacturers of various goods is the ISI Mark. It is used to indicate compliance with Indian standards (IS) set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and has been used as a conformity marking for industrial products. Manufacturers received permission from BIS to use the ISI Mark on items that comply with relevant Indian requirements through the product certification program.
Only manufacturers (domestic or foreign) who produce the finished product will be awarded ISI Certification. This will not be given to any product importers, traders, dealers, or distributors.

There are two approaches for Indian manufacturers to become certified with the ISI Mark:
Regular Procedure
With the possible exception of cases deemed "All India first," which might take up to 180 days, the licensing procedure is expected to be finished in 120 days. This timeline starts on the day the application is received, assuming that at different points in time the documentation, unit assessment, and product conformance are all deemed acceptable.
Step 1: Manufacturing Unit Customization in Compliance with Applicable Indian Standards
Step 2: Submission of the Application Form

Simplified Procedure
This is a much faster process than the standard procedure. After a factory inspection is deemed satisfactory and the initial evaluation establishes that the sample complies with the applicable Indian Standard(s), the license application process is expected to be finished in 30 days.
Step 1: Adapting the Manufacturing Unit to Comply with the Relevant Indian Standard
Step 2: Sample Testing
