Light-emitting diodes, or LEDs, are a remarkable technological advancement. LED bulbs have a lifespan of more than 60,000 hours and are incredibly efficient, saving 90% of energy. They offer significant financial and environmental advantages, are long-lasting, and stay cool.
For general lighting services, self-ballasted LED lights are a kind of LED lighting product that can be screwed straight into conventional light sockets (luminaires) without the need for additional ballasts or drivers. These lights incorporate all necessary parts, such as the driver and LED light source, inside the lamp itself. Occasionally, they also include extra functions like colour temperature control or dimming capability. For general lighting services, self-ballasted LED bulbs provide numerous advantages, such as increased safety, longer lifespan, cost savings, environmental sustainability, and better lighting quality.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) required Self-Ballasted LED Lamps to register as of September 13, 2015, in accordance with IS 16102 (PART 1):2012 under the BIS-managed Compulsory Registration Scheme.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India is responsible for awarding BIS Registration. 2012 saw the launch of the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Testing, assessment, and adherence to technical specifications are all part of the BIS CRS registration procedure, which aims to guarantee the quality and safety of electronic goods meant for Indian customers.
