Quality Control Order for Protective Textiles

The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Protective Textiles (Quality Control) Order, 2022, which will take effect 180 days after its publication in the official Gazette. This Order applies to all products specified within its scope as mentioned in the document, except those intended for export. It mandates that all covered products must adhere strictly to relevant Indian Standards and prominently display the ISI Mark. Manufacturers must obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II as per the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018, to ensure compliance. Failure to comply with this Order will lead to penalties as prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. This regulatory initiative aims to ensure that Protective Textiles meets defined quality benchmarks, thereby bolstering consumer protection and reaffirming the credibility of the industry.
