Outsourced / External Labs Allowed for BIS/ISI Certification of Selected Footwear Products

The Bureau of Indian Standards has introduced a significant change in the certification process for certain footwear products. The product manuals for selected consumer footwear and footwear components have been revised, allowing Micro and Small Scale Units the option to comply with the Scheme of Inspection and Testing (SIT) through outsourced or external laboratories. This means that compliance with specific SIT requirements can now be achieved through testing conducted in external labs.
