BIS Quality Control Amendment Order 2025 for Tin Ingot – IS 26

BIS ISI Certification

BIS ISI Certification

Issue Date: 25-09-2025

Introduction to the BIS QCO on Tin Ingots

The Tin Ingots have been mandated by the BIS to be certified and use the ISI mark before being regulated in the Indian market. This decision was taken after carefully considering the fact that tin ingots must necessarily meet the safety as well as quality criteria in the market, in order to be legally eligible as well as compliant with the regulatory framework. However, on 25th September 2025, the Ministry of Mines issued the Tin Ingot (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025. The amendment has been issued under the authority of the BIS Act, 2016, after consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The objective of this amendment is to safeguard public interest by ensuring the quality, safety, as well as absolute standardization of Tin Ingots in the Indian market.
