Now, What Should Businesses Do?
If you are a manufacturer, importer, or trader dealing with aluminium and aluminium alloy products, it is important to consider several things:
- First, identify whether your product is covered under the notified IS standards that are mentioned in the QCO.
- Check the applicable implementation date for your product category. Some standards require immediate compliance, while others have deadlines extending to June 2027.
- Start the BIS certification (ISI Mark) process as early as possible, since this includes product testing, documentation, as well as factory inspection.
- Maintain proper documentation if you are claiming exemptions (such as export-only goods or R&D imports up to 200 kg).
How Brand Liaison Can Help?
Aluminium products often involve multiple IS standards, often making it difficult for businesses to determine exact applicability as well as timelines. Many companies face delays due to incorrect standard identification or incomplete documentation.
