Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products Quality Control Order 2023

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently introduced the "Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Quality Control) Order, 2023," aimed at regulating and ensuring high-quality standards for aluminium and aluminium alloy products in India. Effective six months from its publication date in the Official Gazette, this Order mandates strict adherence to specified Indian Standards for various aluminium and aluminium alloy products as detailed in the document. Manufacturers are required to affix the ISI Mark on products that meet these stringent quality benchmarks, demonstrating conformity with the Bureau of Indian Standards requirements under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. However, the Order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export. For micro enterprises, as defined in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the Order will come into force twelve months from the notification's publication date, and for small enterprises, it will come into force nine months from the same date. Any person who contravenes the provisions of this Order will be punishable under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
