Quality Control Amendment Order 2023 for Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys

The Ministry of Mines issued the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023, on November 30, 2023. This amendment aims to further revise the existing Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys (Quality Control) Order, 2023. The amended order stipulates that all aluminium and aluminium alloy products must comply with the specified Indian Standards and bear the ISI Mark, granted under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The enforcement of this amendment is set to begin on June 01, 2024. The notification itself comes into effect immediately from November 30, 2023. This update underscores the Ministry's commitment to ensuring stringent quality standards for aluminium and aluminium alloy products in India, thereby reinforcing product reliability and safety in the market. Non-compliance with the provisions of this order will be punishable under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
