Introduction to the BIS QCO for Geotextiles

The Geotextiles (Quality Control) Order, 2024, has been notified by the Ministry of Textiles in order to ensure quality, performance, as well as absolute safety standards for geotextile products used in India.
Under this Order, notified geotextile products must conform to the prescribed Indian Standards and bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a licence that will be issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

This Order mainly applies to products that are manufactured for the domestic market and does not apply to goods that are manufactured exclusively for export purposes.

What is the date of implementation?

The Geotextiles (Quality Control) Order, 2024 shall come into force on 1st April, 2025.
