Extension Order for Bicycles- Retro Reflective Devices

The Central Government has issued a Quality Control Order (QCO) for Bicycles - Retro Reflective Devices, mandating BIS certification. This step, taken after consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), is deemed necessary in the public interest. According to the Quality Control Order, 2023, Bicycles - Retro Reflective Devices must conform to the corresponding Indian Standards and bear the Standard Mark under a license from BIS, in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The relevant standards include IS/ISO 6742-2:2015, which covers Bicycles - Retro Reflective Devices, and IS 1016:2014, which specifies the requirements for retro-reflective devices. The implementation date of this order has been extended from January 1, 2023, to July 1, 2023. The order applies to the products mentioned above, with the exception of goods or articles intended for export. Non-compliance with this order will be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
