Extension Order 2023 for Medical Textiles

The Ministry of Textiles has recently issued an Extension Order for the implementation of various Medical Textile products under the Medical Textiles (Quality Control) Order 2023. This Order mandates compliance with relevant Indian Standards for specific medical textile products, with extended deadlines based on enterprise categories.

Extended Compliance Dates:

1. Sanitary Napkins (IS 5405:2019):

For Small & Micro Enterprises (SME): 1st October 2024

For Others: 1st April 2024

2. Baby Diapers (IS 17509:2021):

For Small & Micro Enterprises (SME): 1st October 2024

For Others: 1st April 2024

3. Reusable Sanitary Pads, Sanitary Napkins, and Period Panties (IS 17514:2021):

For Small & Micro Enterprises (SME): 1st October 2024

For Others: 1st April 2024

4. Shoe Covers (IS 17349:2020): 1st April 2024

5. Dental Bib/Napkins (IS 17354:2020): 1st April 2024

6. Bedsheets and Pillow Covers (IS 17630:2021): 1st April 2024

The Order shall come into force immediately after the specified periods from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. It applies to the goods listed in this order but exempts items meant for export and those manufactured by Self Help Groups (SHGs) as specified in Schedule A. Non-compliance with the provisions of this Order will be punishable according to the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
