Introduction to the BIS QCO for PP Materials for Moulding & Extrusion
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, through the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, has issued the Polypropylene (PP) Materials for Moulding and Extrusion (Quality Control) Second Amendment Order, 2025. This amendment modifies the existing 2024 QCO issued under the provisions of the BIS Act, 2016, and mandates that Polypropylene materials for moulding and extrusion comply with specified Indian Standards and bear the BIS Standard Mark for sale, distribution, and import in India.
Key Changes You Should Know
- The enforcement date of the original QCO has been officially extended.
- All PP material for moulding and extrusion must conform to IS 10910:2023 under Scheme-I of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
- No changes have been made to the technical compliance requirements or scope of the product.
- The amendment simply extends the compliance timeline for manufacturers and importers.
