Introduction to the BIS QCO for Flux Cored Solder Wire

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Quality Control Order (QCO) for Flux Cored Solder Wire (IS 1921:2005) was originally introduced to ensure product quality, safety, and reliability for soldering applications used across electronics, electrical, and industrial sectors. Under the said QCO, Flux Cored Solder Wire manufactured or imported into India was required to conform to the applicable Indian Standard and bear the ISI mark under a BIS license.

However, the Flux Cored Solder Wire (Quality Control) Order, 2023 has now been withdrawn by the Central Government through a Gazette Notification issued under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, after consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). This withdrawal has been brought into force with immediate effect.
