Self-Contained Drinking Water Cooler Quality Control Order Notification for Micro and Small Enterprises

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued the "Self-Contained Drinking Water Cooler (Quality Control) Order, 2023" to ensure high-quality standards for self-contained drinking water coolers in India. This Order will come into effect six months from its publication date in the Official Gazette. Products covered under this Order must conform to the Indian Standard 1475 (Part 1): 2001 and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Exceptions to this Order include goods or articles manufactured domestically for export. For micro enterprises, as defined in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the Order will come into force twelve months from the notification's publication date, while for small enterprises, it will come into force nine months from the same date. The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority, and any violation of the provisions of this Order will be punishable under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
