Resin Treated Compressed Wood Laminates Quality Control Order Notification for Micro and Small Enterprises

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently issued the Resin Treated Compressed Wood Laminates (Quality Control) Order, 2023, which mandates adherence to Indian Standards IS 3513 (Part 1):1989, IS 3513 (Part 2):1989, and IS 3513 (Part 3):1989 for all Resin Treated Compressed Wood Laminates (compregs) intended for electrical, chemical, and general use. Under this order, effective six months from its publication date, manufacturers are required to ensure that their products prominently display the ISI Mark. Small Enterprises, categorized under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, have a grace period of nine months to comply, while Micro Enterprises are given twelve months. To conform, manufacturers must obtain the ISI Mark under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Products manufactured domestically for export are exempted from this regulation. It's crucial to comply with these standards, as failure to do so could lead to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
