Quality Control Amendment Order 2023 for Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has recently introduced the Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023, effective from October 3, 2023. This amendment mandates that all Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers manufactured or traded in India must strictly adhere to specified Indian Standard criteria and prominently display the ISI mark. To comply with these requirements, manufacturers must secure a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The amendment explicitly prohibits the production, trading, stocking, or importation of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers lacking the ISI Mark, with penalties outlined for non-compliance in the relevant legislation.
