Quality Control Amendment Order 2023 for Copper

The Ministry of Mines issued the Copper (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023, on November 03, 2023, to further amend the existing Copper (Quality Control) Order, 2023. This amended order mandates that copper products adhere to the relevant Indian Standards and bear the ISI Mark, which is granted under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The amended provisions will be enforced starting June 01, 2024, while the notification itself takes immediate effect from November 03, 2023. This amendment underscores the Ministry's dedication to ensuring that copper products in the market meet stringent quality standards, thereby enhancing product safety and reliability. Non-compliance with the order will result in penalties as outlined in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
