The Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2024, which was issued on 28 August 2024, mandated compulsory safety compliance for specified machinery as well as various electrical equipment. Using powers that have been granted under Sections 16, 17, and 25 of the BIS Act, 2016, the Government has officially deferred the enforcement date for several electrical equipment categories listed under the said Order. As per the official notification dated 6th November 2025:

1. The deferment applies to all product categories listed in the Table of the Electrical Equipment (Quality Control) Order, 2020, except those under Sr. No. 1.1(a), which were already implemented on 10th November 2024.
2. The earlier notified enforcement dates, including the previously extended date of 10th November 2025, now stand withdrawn.
3. The enforcement date for the remaining electrical equipment categories is deferred until further notice. 

This means the Ministry will announce a new implementation date at a later time.
