Quality Control Order 2023 for Nickel

The Ministry of Mines has issued the Nickel (Quality Control) Order, 2023, with the objective of upholding stringent quality standards for Nickel across India. This regulatory measure is slated to come into effect three months from its publication in the Official Gazette. Under this Order, Nickel powder must strictly adhere to Indian Standard IS 7506:1987. Products that meet these prescribed standards are mandated to prominently display the ISI Mark, signifying conformity with the Bureau of Indian Standards requirements under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. This Order includes provisions that exempt domestically manufactured Nickel powder intended solely for export. The Bureau of Indian Standards is entrusted with the responsibility of certifying and enforcing compliance with these standards. Failure to comply with the provisions outlined in this Order may result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, underscoring the government's commitment to ensuring adherence to established quality norms and safeguarding consumer interests in the Nickel industry. This initiative aims to bolster quality assurance, reinforce industry standards, and enhance confidence in Nickel products available in the market.
