Domestic Gas Stoves for Use with Piped Natural Gas Quality Control Order Notification for Micro and Small Enterprises

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has introduced the Domestic Gas Stoves for Use with Piped Natural Gas (Quality Control) Order, 2023, aimed at ensuring stringent adherence to quality standards for these essential household appliances. This directive mandates compliance with Indian Standard 17153:2019. Effective from the Gazette Notification dated 9th August 2023, this Charge will be enforceable six months from the notification date. However, Micro and Small Enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, are granted distinct timelines for compliance. Small Enterprises have nine months to align with the regulations, while Micro Enterprises have twelve months. This Order exempts domestically manufactured goods intended solely for export. Non-compliance with its provisions will result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. This initiative underscores the Ministry's commitment to enhancing safety and quality standards in domestic gas stove manufacturing, ensuring consumer protection and promoting industry compliance with established norms. Industry stakeholders are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the requirements outlined in the Gazette Notification and prepare for timely adherence to the specified deadlines.
