Introduction to the Extension Notification

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has issued a new notification extending the implementation timeline for Television Sets under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016.

Earlier, Television Sets were included in the Schedule of the CRO through S.O. 1929(E) dated 26th April 2023 and were required to comply with IS 18112:2022 from 26th July 2026.

As per the latest notification 2026, the implementation date has now been extended to 26th January 2027. 

What is the New BIS CRS Notification for Television Sets? 

As per this notification, the following are the highlights:

1. There is an extension in the implementation date for Television Sets under BIS CRS.
2. Television Sets covered under the CRO must comply with IS 18112:2022.
3. Manufacturers and importers have been given an additional six months to complete the required compliance.

What is the Date of Implementation?

The implementation date of the Order has been extended from 26th July 2026 to 26th January 2027.
