The Bureau may grant a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) under Scheme-IV of Schedule II, BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018 for products that adhere to the specified requirements outlined in the relevant Indian Standards.
CoC is obligatory for Stampings, Laminations, and Cores of Transformers, whether they have winding or not. The Indian Standards covered by the CoC include IS 3024:2015 (Grain Oriented electrical steel sheet and strip), IS 648:2006 (Cold rolled non-oriented electrical steel sheet and strip), IS 16585:2016 (Fe based amorphous strip delivered in the semi-processed state), and IS 10613:2014 (Retro-Reflective Devices for Bicycles).
The process for obtaining a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) involves the following steps:
Step 1: Customize the Manufacturing Unit to Meet CoC Requirements
Step 2: Application Submission
Step 3: Application Scrutiny and Inspection Officer Nomination
Step 4: Payment of Audit Fees and Inspection-Related Expenses
Step 5: Factory Visit
Step 6: Certificate of Conformity (CoC) Issuance
Step 7: Resolution of Non-Conformities (if applicable)
Note: Payment must be transferred to the BIS Account.
